About Hillhouse

Hillhouse builds work environments that help people thrive and companies prosper. Each project we lead is grounded in fundamentals. Every team we assemble is focused on results. And all our work is produced in partnership with clients, contractors, architects, and associates to deliver the greatest value possible. Value you can experience in air quality, thermal comfort, and employee productivity. Value you can bank in water savings, landfill diversion, and energy reduction. Value you can measure in time spent, deadlines met, dollars saved, and results delivered.

Hillhouse History

When we started Hillhouse Construction more than 35 years ago, we set out to do more than build buildings. We set our minds to creating a superior client experience. Quality and service were important, to be sure, but there was more. Bolder plans. Smarter solutions. Greater respect for the environment, for site locations, and for the building’s occupants. Over the years, we have continuously innovated to create signature work environments that help people thrive and companies prosper. And when it all comes together, the results are invigorating. That is what drives us. What inspires us.

In the 1980s, construction growth in Silicon Valley was fueled by companies deep into R&D and manufacturing for the electronics field. The most advanced buildings required highly technical, clean room environments. Our skills were honed in designing and building ultra-clean scientific facilities in which air quality is measured in parts per million.

While such technical facilities have since moved out of the area and overseas, the experience to create them has enabled Hillhouse to stay at the forefront of the sustainability movement. In fact, we were creating sustainable work environments before the name was even in use. When workspace priorities shifted from supporting equipment and manufacturing processes to supporting people and collaboration, we were more than ready to lead the charge. What we discovered early on, and other builders are just now learning, is that employees are happiest and most productive when the full spectrum of environmental factors is thought through and best practices are integrated throughout the workspace.

In project after project, year after year, we have partnered with our clients, architects, construction managers, and associates to bring that Silicon Valley spirit of innovation and that drive for results to every project we undertake. We invite you to keep reading to discover what makes Hillhouse exceptional.
