Stanford Automation Innovation Facility

Hillhouse completed the ground-up construction of an 8,000 SF interior and a 4,000 SF covered bay agricultural-style building with custom steel that blends homogeneously with the rural surrounding. This innovative facility is a partnership between Stanford and Volkswagen to continue a tradition of award-winning vehicles in the DARPA competition and to help create safer and greener cars. The building has both interior and exterior work bays as well as electronics labs and collaboration areas. The large interior volumes and abundance of natural light work in conjunction with radiant heating and natural ventilation.
