In 1987, Ken founded Hillhouse Construction because he wanted to create a new breed of construction company, one that would build high-quality work environments to help people thrive and companies prosper. Combining his construction experience and his passion for customer care, Ken created a company focused on serving clients who desire great design, quality construction and the highest possible level of service.
Ken’s commitment to sustainable design and construction has influenced Hillhouse’s project delivery methodology since long before sustainable design achieved mainstream popularity. The company’s headquarters is green certified and earned its LEED Gold certification back in 2010. Ken also developed Hillhouse’s signature Indoor Air Quality Management Plan — considered an industry benchmark for commercial interiors — and he continues to advance the cutting edge of the sustainable building movement. Ken has served as LEED project administrator for numerous LEED projects, and played an integral role in the construction of America’s first Net Zero Energy/Zero Carbon Emission building.
As Hillhouse’s Green Team leader, Ken is involved in all pre-project planning related to sustainable design and construction processes. He works closely with the project team to define the sustainability goals, methodology and delivery process. For LEED projects, Ken outlines the certification path, confirms the required documentation and commission requirements, and supports the entire certification process.
As a construction professional, Ken has experience in mid-rise steel and concrete construction, underground and multi-story parking structures, and concrete tilt-up and conventional wood frame construction. His interior construction experience includes high-profile corporate offices, state-of-the-art scientific and microelectronics facilities, and healthcare and hospitality facilities.
