A continuation of Superintendent, Bill Johnston’s bike ride down the West Coast as part of the California Coast Arthritis Bike Classic. Below are some recaps and pics from the last few days so we can all share in Bill’s adventure and challenge.  If you missed part 1, click here, and check back tomorrow for his finale ride to the finish line!

Day 4 – 9/12
“Probably one of the difficult rides I have ever done, only 65 mikes but 90+ deg heat and pretty much climbing all day.  We started down in the valley and climbed about 4000ft on a 8-16% grade.  Tomorrow is 72 mikes from Paso Robles to Oceana”  -Bill

Day 5 – 9/13
“72 miles with about 4500 ft of climbing. Most of the climbing was right at the start so we got thru before it got hot. We are back on the coast now and tomorrow ride to Buellton, about 70-80 miles. Has a couple of hard hills but nothing like the last few ”  -Bill

Day 6 – 9/14
“We road about 65 miles today mostly thru flat farm land. Nothing to exciting to see but then about 1:00 we started climbing out of the valley and had about 3800 ft of climbing. This is a picture from the top of the last hill looking back at the valley and mountains we spend the day riding thru and over. Tomorrow is about 85 mikes to Santa Barbara”  -Bill

Day 7 – 9/15
“Day 7 in the books!  85 miles, mostly flat only about 3300 feet of climbing. Tomorrow we only ride 55 miles and we’re done. ”  -Bill
