Wow is it really Christmas already in just a few days?! If the holidays have one common thread among us all it would be food, and lots of it. Our office kitchen is proof of this, as our large break table has been covered the last two weeks in everything from various chocolates to baklava to tamales…and trust me we are not complaining!
With all this eating going on, I found it only fitting to share about a kitchen project that recently wrapped up at Kidango corporate headquarters in Fremont. Kidango provides early education, child development and family services to over 2,500 children all over the Bay Area. The kitchen at their headquarters prepares fresh, nutritious meals daily that are distributed to their centers for all the children to enjoy. We all know proper nutrition is key to successful learning, which means the staff in this kitchen have a big responsibility each day and we are happy to have helped them build a new 4,200 sf commercial kitchen to get the job done.
Included in this kitchen build-out was a 35’ long cook line, two 160 cu. ft. Baxter ovens, a 300 sf scullery, new laundry area, a 500 sf walk-in freezer & cooler and a 40 sf enclosed stainless steel mop sink/wash area. The complete project scope also consisted of a full demo of over 10,000 sf of existing office space to cold shell, followed by construction of 7,500 sf of corporate office in addition to the kitchen. The entire building was also upgraded to new LED lighting in order to comply with current Title 24 code requirements.
